Hello! I'm going to cosplay as Bachalo!Rogue, and I saw yours and really liked it! Were there any patterns you used or materials you can suggest to me? :) Oh, and wig! Wigs confuse me.

i didnt use a pattern? aside from the pants where i used a generic pajama pants pattern and tightened the fuck outta it, i just kind of patterened the shirt after my own clothes? the cloak was just any circle cape but you can find tutorials for those online anywhere.

i used green matte milliskin spandex and then white matte milliskin spandex. the type of green you use is up to you?? i use forest green but thats hella hard to find.

for the wig i?? just got a generic brown wavy wig?? i mean you dont have to use wavy thats just what i prefer because it fits my face shape. i guess you can just decide on the wig depending on which person draws that outfit?? you can sew white wefts into the wig to get the bangs?? i didnt do that because i hate sewing wefts but its the easiest option

Tried a two-toned look for her. Started to think that showing all that armor ‘plating’ would lead to martial-artist/killers/baddies to SEEK out weak areas in them and exploit them. So less obvious plating, more sleek-ish. No yellow boots, don’t know why, but seemed right at this moment.

This sounds like a good campaign, and taking a different tactic to raising awareness and getting people’s attention, hopefully people get the message and don’t just laugh it off.

I know the obvious point is “it would be ridiculous if Superman was blamed because he wore tights right? So why are we blaming rape victims by what they wore?” But, I think using Superman is also really powerful, because (besides the use of him in tights to send the message about clothing) it shows that no matter how physically powerful you are, or if you’re a man, you can still be assaulted. The clothing message is the obvious one, but by using a powerful superhero icon, there’s also the messages about not victim blaming people by speculating on if they could have fought back, or inventing ways of how they could have fought back (and therefore should have) or “but you’re so much bigger than them”, “why didn’t you try to escape?”, or that you must believe somebody has to be “weak” to be a victim of sexual assault (either claiming they must have wanted it because they’re not that “weak”, or insisting that they are because they were assaulted).

And if we can believe Superman can be assaulted, then maybe we can believe the non-powered people we meet IRL when they say so too.

I wanted to share this because it’s about superheroes, feminism and using superheroes to get a really important message out.

This is Jakey (Damian cosplayer) with his new friend Ethan at the San Jose Comicfest. Ethan is an extraordinarily artistic 8 year old with his own booth at the convention, whom Jakey consistently returned to during the day. When asked by Mick Gray (the inker for Batman and Robin), what his favorite part of the convention was, Jake told him it was meeting Ethan. At the end of the con, Ethan gifted the spider-man he had been working on all morning to Jakey and even signed his work. Ethan’s face when he handed the art to Jakey. My heart cannot take how adorable they are. Jacob is now practicing how to draw a robin, so he can have something to give Ethan tomorrow. <3
